Be Savvy When Buying This Black Friday

Black Friday has been growing in popularity in Britain over the last few years, and now it has taken over as the biggest shopping day of the year, whether you are looking for Christmas presents, clothes for festive nights out, or new technology to update your house.

One of the most popular things to purchase during the biggest retail discount holiday of the year is fixtures and fittings for your home, with a report from TopCashback.com finding that 12 per cent of consumers are intending to splash out on kitchen equipment on November 23rd.

This could be a great excuse to complement your new Italian porcelain kitchen tiles, and add a bit more character to your food preparation area.

Of course, if you are going to join the 36 million Brits (71 per cent of us) who hit the shops this Friday, you need to be savvy about how you find the best bargains.

Consumer shopping expert at TopCashback.com Chelsea Hudson told ABC News it is important to have a strategy.

“To ensure you have a smooth shopping experience: create and calculate a budget and then split purchases into categories: presents and household purchases,” Ms Hudson stated.

Being prepared will make the entire experience better, more productive and more enjoyable.

Rachel Gillett at Business Insider recently told Newsweek customers to still do their research on products before buying them, and not to be persuaded by a bargain that looks too good to be true.

It is also wise to make sure you are getting a good deal by seeing whether sale prices had been intentionally hiked up recently.

According to the Wall Street Journal, a fifth of the products they tracked in the lead-up to Thanksgiving in 2012 were eight per cent more expensive than normal.
