Tiles ‘Allow You To Personalise A Space’

When it comes to bathrooms and kitchens, tiles are something of a staple design choice. They’re well known for being highly durable, as well as waterproof, which makes them ideal for floors and walls in these parts of the home.

They might be the obvious choice from a functionality point of view, but they’re increasingly being included as design elements.

Kitchen & Bath Design News recently spoke to Jason Vanderhovel, lead designer at Dream Kitchens, who explained people are increasingly looking for ways to make their space more unique.

“Different types of wall covering, like tiles, are definitely expanding in popularity,” he said.

Kristine Tyler, owner and designer at Tree Frog Design, added that tiles allow people to really add their own “personal style”. “You can do fun things with paint, but you can use tile to really personalise a space in a way you can’t with other materials,” she stated.

For something eye-catching, you could consider using mosaic effect wall tiles. They can be a great way to add a splash of colour or some contrast to a splashback or wall.

Ms Tyler suggested decorating a nook or accent wall with tile patterns to introduce “a spark of life to the room”.

Even if you’ve only got a small space, there are a number of ways you can make your bathroom feel larger by being clever with your tiling. We recently shared some top tips, which include using larger tiles, as well as opting for paler colours. Marble tiles can be a particularly good choice.
